Weight loss: This is how much more you eat when you are sleep deprived

Our sleeping cycle influences our weight loss in more ways than one. A restful sleep of 7-8 hours at night can speed up your metabolism and can help you lose weight, while an interrupted sleep session can turn things the other way round. First of all, poor sleep can decrease your resting metabolic rate (RMR), which is referred to as the number of calories your body burns when you are at rest. Secondly, sleep deprivation can increase your appetite, which is caused by two important hunger hormones- ghrelin and leptin. This increases your craving and calorie intake. Moreover, when you are sleep deprived, you are more likely to make unhealthy food choices.
