Injured Manoj Tiwary to miss Bengal camp | Cricket News

KOLKATA: Seasoned Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary will miss the side’s pre-season camp beginning in Kolkata from Friday due to an injury. The former Bengal skipper is nursing a knee injury that forced him to sit out for the time being.
“I have a cartilage injury on my left knee from the beginning of the season that has aggravated. I have been advised to rest and will be back as soon as my rehab is complete,” Tiwary said.
The middle-order batsman did not find runs in the recently-concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 meet that saw Bengal being knocked out in the group stage. However, Bengal will hope for his speedy recovery as he remains the team’s mainstay in the upcoming other domestic matches.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) meanwhile named a list of probables who will attend a camp under the guidance of batting consultant VVS Laxman, from Friday. The former India batsman previously held a camp for the players before the Mushtaq Ali meet. Although the list includes the name of Abhimanyu Easwaran, the opener will miss the action as he will be in Chennai with the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England as a standby.
CAB will also organise a blood donation camp on February 3 at Eden Gardens and in the districts to mark its foundation day. The donors will receive certificates from India pacer Jhulan Goswami.
“The blood donation camps will be organised maintaining all protocols applicable in this Covid-19 situation,” CAB president Avishek Dalmiya said.
