Day 2, Session 1 in a nutshell!
Joe Root (156*) and Ben stokes (63*) added 92 runs in the morning session as England got to a commanding 355/3 at Lunch on Day 2 of the first Test in Chennai. Resuming on the overnight score of 263/3, both Root and Stokes batted with caution and aggression, denying India any success in the first session. While Root got to his third consecutive 150-plus score in Tests, Stokes also got to his 23rd Test fifty in the session as the duo completely dominated the India bowlers. For Virat Kohli and Co., it was another session where the bowlers were made to toil hard without any success. Two unsuccessful reviews in consecutive overs also did not help India’s cause on a flat Chepauk deck.
